A single slider window has two panels arranged side by side: one fixed and one horizontally sliding. Pushing the sliding sash sideways opens half the window, and an integrated tilt-in function allows the sliding sash to pivot inward for exterior glass cleaning. Window Force single slider windows are built on the Classic Series 3 1/4" platform in lead-free uPVC with welded sash construction, interlocking sash rails, and an integrated roller system for smooth horizontal travel.

How It Works

The sliding sash runs horizontally on a roller system embedded in the sill and head track. Stainless steel or nylon rollers at the bottom support the sash weight and allow side-to-side travel with minimal friction. The cam lock engages at the meeting stile when the sash is closed, drawing the sliding sash against the fixed panel for a consistent seal. Flush bolts are available at the sill and head for additional security. The tilt-in function allows the sliding sash to pivot inward at the top, rotating into the room and exposing the exterior glass for cleaning.

Where It Works Best

Single slider windows are suited for openings that are wider than they are tall — a format common in basement windows, horizontal ribbon windows, and rooms where a low sill line is combined with a wide view. Because the sash travels within the frame plane, no exterior clearance is needed, making sliders appropriate beside decks, patios, or in constrained spaces. A single slider opens half its total width, which is more than a single hung opens vertically for the same frame height, making it efficient in wide, low openings.

Frame & Structural Design

uPVC The window system is manufactured using uPVC vinyl extrusion supplied by Vision Extrusions Group, a North American manufacturer specializing in high-performance vinyl profiles. The material is formulated to provide long-term dimensional stability, impact resistance, and resistance to discolouration under varying environmental conditions.

Internal Chambers These windows have the highest number of internal chambers, giving them out-standing insulation and sound abatement qualities, as well as thermal efficiency and increased sturdiness.

Fusion Welded Corners Provide attractive appearance & eliminate the need for adhesive and sealants. There are no imperfections on the completely watertight and airtight surface, Interior walls are also welded.

Cam Lock Engagement

The cam lock at the meeting stile draws the sliding sash against the fixed panel frame when engaged, creating a compressed seal at the vertical sash junction. The mechanism provides a clear locked / unlocked indication and requires only a simple lever motion to set or release.

Integrated Roller System

Embedded rollers in the sill track support the sash weight and allow horizontal travel with minimal hand force. The roller system is designed for long-service life without adjustment, and the head track guides keep the sash aligned vertically throughout its travel.

Tilt-In Function

The sliding sash on Window Force single slider windows includes a tilt-in function that allows it to pivot inward at the top, rotating into the room and giving access to the exterior glass surface from inside. The sash disengages from the head track during tilt and re-engages when returned to the vertical operating position.

What is the difference between a single slider and a double slider window?

A single slider has one fixed panel and one sliding sash. A double slider has two panels that both slide horizontally. With a single slider, half the window can open; with a double slider, both halves open and can be moved independently, which provides more ventilation control and allows you to direct airflow from either side. An end vent slider is a variation of the double slider with a narrower sliding panel at one or both ends.

Can single slider windows be used in basements?

Is triple-pane glazing available in single slider windows?

No. Single and double slider windows are double-pane only on both Classic and Ultraslim Series platforms. How do I clean the exterior glass on a single slider window?

Window Force single slider windows include a tilt-in function on the sliding sash. The top of the sash disengages from the head track and pivots inward, rotating the exterior glass surface into reach from inside the room. This allows exterior glass cleaning without outdoor access. The fixed panel requires exterior cleaning.

What keeps a slider window operating smoothly over time?

The roller system does most of the work — the quality and alignment of the sill-track rollers determine how easily the sash travels. Window Force slider windows use embedded rollers designed for long-service life without adjustment. Keeping the sill track clear of debris and wiping it periodically with a damp cloth maintains smooth operation. Lubrication is generally not required for the rollers, but the cam lock cam and the head track guides benefit from occasional light lubrication.

Yes. Slider windows can be mulled side-by-side to create wider window bands. In a ribbon configuration, fixed panels are typically placed at the ends or between operable sliders to provide structural support and maintain consistent sightlines. Window Force mulling systems are compatible with Classic Series slider units and allow combination assemblies to be specified for larger openings.
